A few decisions along the way
Open an entry to see what changed, the material behind it, and the checks that followed.
July 13, 2026Layout decisionKeeping the parts I liked
One redesign made the listings easier to scan, but it also removed the city, information, and reviews sections. It changed the feel of the site too much. The next pass brought those sections back.
The change
- Restored the original page composition.
- Kept a compact listings section below the search.
- Kept the clearer search labels.
What I checked
The saved review compares the hero, city sections, and reviews with the original design. It also records a browser check of the section order and search.
From the project records
The comparison history explains why the redesign went back toward the original. The approved layout record shows what stayed and what was added.
Read the saved excerptApril–September 2026Photo policyThe photo has to match the listing
A photo can make a listing look more convincing, but borrowing a different business’s photo gives the wrong impression. The image policy changed as I worked through that problem.
The change
An earlier pass removed photos borrowed from other businesses. The current policy uses approved business photos first, then clearly illustrative fallback images.
What I checked
The repository has checks for approved-photo priority, variation between fallback images, and exclusion of unrelated photos. Those are existing checks in the project, rather than a new test run for this note.
From the project records
These excerpts show the earlier photo correction and the later fallback policy.
